Israel election: Arab parties cross threshold despite low Arab voter turnout

In spite of a low voter turnout among Arab Israelis, the Arab lists of Hadash-Ta’al and Ra’am-Balad crossed the electoral threshold gaining…

six and four seats respectively.

However, their total haul of 10 Knesset seats is lower than in the 2015 general elections. On that election, the joint Arab list won 13 seats. That made them the third-largest faction in the 20th Knesset.

Voters suggested that the low turnout was the result of a split between Arab factions which had come together for the 2015 polls. A campaign to boycott the election was also fingered.
