Hardliners from the left and from the right are pulling at poor Theresa May, threatening to tear her limb from limb. She is trapped between a rock and a very hard place.
The situation is so tense, the burden so great that Theresa May may be eating her favourite meal right now, without noticing its taste.
She is pushing for a Brexit extension because there is a real threat of civil war, whichever way she pushes.
