The 2 Igbo Rivers That Fight Every Day

Oguta lake which is one of the largest water bodies in Imo State, Igbo Land, Nigeria. The lake is made up two angry Rivers. They are the Orashi river which is muddy in color and the Ogbuide River which is greenish.

The picture in the link below shows 2 rivers ‘so embittered’ that they meet but do not mix.

How The Quarrel Started Between Both Rivers

According to legend, ages ago both Rivers were male and female. It is literally believed they were husband and wife. Orashi was the male, while Ogbuide was female. They lived happily ever after until one day when they had a hot quarrel. They then separated, and have been at it ever since.

Many activities such as transportation, swimming and tourism are carried out in Oguta Lake. I would like to see a situation where the activities expand to include a marina, scuba diving, etc.

See photos of the angry rivers at it in this link.
