Joe Biden, Fix The Jackson Water Crisis

“Marshall lives in west Jackson, in the US state of Mississippi – a predominantly black and poor part of the city. He has no choice but to drink the tap water that Jackson residents have been told to avoid. When he turns the tap on – the water runs brown.”

It’s the responsibility of the government to provide remedies where there’s nothing the private sector can do.

We call on US President Joe Biden to directly intervene to fix the water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi. Marshall should not have to drink contaminated brown water from the tap because he has no other choice.

If the water in the area contains too much lead, then the US National Guard should be directed to make special supplies to that area as a measure of urgency.

While we applaud President Joe Biden’s landmark infrastructure bill allocated money for marginalized and underserved communities such as Jackson, which in 2020 had a population of 163,000, we note that Jackson has clearly not received adequate funds to pull it out of a decrepit state of affairs.

We therefore call on President Biden to urgently do everything he can to see that this long-suffering community smiles again.
