Gum Swelling After Tooth Extraction Surgery

After tooth extraction surgery, swelling of the mouth is to be expected.

The swelling will usually increase over the first 48 hours. Then it normally lasts for another five to seven days before resolving.

This is a normal part of the healing process. So, it does not mean you have gotten an infection during the immediate post-surgery period.
