Dear Reader, it is very easy to sink into the habit of speaking only English, French, or whatever the official language of where you stay is. But it is important for us to remember that while these languages may be the economic languages that we speak in the office or in business, it is only when you speak your mother tongue that you are truly at home.
So, while I do not say you should stop speaking the official language of the area you stay in, I ask you to also speak your mother tongue to your mother, your father, your siblings, your spouse and your kids. it is very important.
Each Igbo word you speak goes somewhere and adds to the total stock out there that will stop the language from becoming extinct as has been predicted by UNESCO.
Goodbye for now. Igbo Kwenu!
True!
UNESCO’s will not come to pass.
