Senator Dino Melaye shared a video of how he tried to stop some hawkers selling goods during the lockdown.
But on asking them why they didn’t stay back home, one of them told him that she would have stayed home but for the hunger. The hawker sayed that while she can bear the hunger, her children cannot.
On further questioning, she revealed that she had 6 children. After hearing this, Dino was forced to count money and give each of them.
This life is not easy for many many Nigerians. If these people had gotten adequate lockdown relief either in form of significant ‘stay home’ money (like N50k initially) in their BVN-identified bank account or in form of adequate food supplies, many would have stayed home so that coronavirus can expire. The whole thing was captured on video. Video loading…
Please hawkers should know they are not immune against Corona. No sanitizer, no face mask, no gloves….haba!!! Stay at home please..you need to be alive pic.twitter.com/Hny9ICjyXT
