I want to use this opportunity to give kudos to the Federal Government and the Kaduna State Government over the way they have handled the tomato ebola issue.
This has led to a crash in the price from N25000 in May to N800 today (August 1, 2016). Of course, the rains played their part, as the organisms don’t last during rainy weather.
Reports reaching us say that people who went to buy tomatoes at the Line Dogo (Rail Line) were very happy. They were able to buy large quantities of the food gold. (Now with new yam coming, I can eat yam and tomato sauce)
Turning Point?
Hopefully, this tomato relief will inspire a decrease in inflation in the food sector which is spiraling out of control. If the government can devote enough earnest attention to solving the herdsmen-farmer crises as they have done to this tomato crises, agriculture, in general, will receive a great boost.
Good news
