Speaking to newsmen, the Ondo Stae Commissioner for Information Kayode Akinmade has listed the benefits of the ongoing bitumen exploration to the state.
Apart from increase to internally generated revenue to the state government, the state’s Commissioner for Information Kayode Akinmade said the exploration will also lead to the establishment of many companies, impact positively on the overall development of the state and generate massive employment which will complement the jobs being provided for the youth in the state through Agriculture.
Ondo State has a massive haul of bitumen under its surface, and at this time when oil is no longer what it used to be, that is wonderful news.
The commissioner said that bitumen exploration is only starting out now because of delays the state government faced in getting a licence for it. The Federal Government should make such delays a thing of the past, as any state that can comfortably generate internal revenue is a state that wouldn’t come begging it for financial bailout.
