Obama’s hatred for Donald Trump did not start today. It started when Trump led efforts a few years ago to suggest that Obama was not born in the United States, and therefore, that he wasn’t qualified to be US President. It seems Obama has never forgiven him for that.
And in his 2016 campaign, The Donald has repeatedlyrained criticisms on Obama’s policies, notably Obama’s refusal to use the term “radical Islam” in describing ISIS. Trump has even come out to suggest that Obama is somehow complicit in the recent Florida mass shooting in which 50 people died, and I think it will be safe to say that Obama was not amused.
Obama has an axe to grind and this has made him team up effectively with his former opponent in the 2008 Democratic Primaries, Hillary Clinton.
This shows the disadvantage of Donald Trump’s political style of courting controversy. It may give you the life-giving attention of the press, but it can also make you some very powerful enemies.
Normally, second term US Presidents don’t go out of their way to campaign for one candidate the way Obama has for Hillary Clinton, but all the harsh words he heard from Trump have hardened his heart. For those who have consistently called Obama a soft man, this shows that behind that softness is a hard-hearted man who is ready to bide his time and wait for the right moment to strike back.
Currently, Donald Trump is facing 3 super serious challengers from the Democratic Party, rather than one. He is facing Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
That’s a handful. About the only way The Donald can deflect some media attention now from his ever-growing host of Democratic attackers is to announce a Vice Presidential candidate who is willing to at least defend him vociferously from the Democratic Arsenals.
But then, Trump is used to this kind of thing. Expect him to begin focussing on just Clinton and raining fire on her the way he did with Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and others.
In the end, this election cycle will be one of the most bitter in US electoral history.
