Barrak Obama, the first black president of the United States has for the past 8 years of his ending presidency, refused to visit the most populous black country in the world. And while one thought that during the last days of his presidency, he would at least squeeze in Nigeria, even for a plane refuelling stop-over he has continued to slap Nigeria on the face, treating Nigeria (the giant of Africa) as if it doesn’t exist.
The latest slap came when his staff announced his final trip as president. He will visit 3 countries, Germany, Peru and Greece. According to New York Times, originally, the trip to Peru was the only scheduled stop, but Mr. Obama added Greece, where he plans to land on Tuesday morning, because he has never been there and wanted to see the Parthenon, a Greek foreign attraction!
So, Mr Obama chose Greece for his final trip in order to see a Greek tourist attraction, when he would have visited Nigeria where a Nigerian king, the Ooni of Ife is just about to erect a magnificent statue for Moremi Ajesoro, a great Yoruba and Igbo queen who reigned in the 12th Century. Imagine if Obama had decided to use his celebrity to promote such great African tourist concept? The tourist value to Nigeria in terms of foreign exchange would have lasted for years.
Ok, Mr Obama, carry on o. But what you did to Nigeria is not good o.
