‘I Will Be Rich, I Will Be Rich, When, When?’- Young Nigerian

Some months ago I went to the filling station to buy fuel. As the attendant was selling to me, we started a conversation about being rich.He referred to me as rich, so I replied, ‘Don’t worry, you will soon be rich’. His reply shocked me. He said, ‘You will be rich you will be rich. When now?’
Sadly, I had no answer for him.

In the United States, there is an American Dream- if you work hard and smart, you can be rich. But here, I am sorry to say that the Nigerian Dream is turning more and more into a fairy tale. Every day, government brings out various policies that discourage people from having the hope that they will one day be rich.

With people earning less money than it takes to buy a bag of rice, there is no hope.
If only we could have 50 good people committed to making Nigeria great, it would be great.
