Football: South Africa Thrash Seychelles 28-0

South Africa’s U-17 women’s football team has set a continental record by trashing Seychelles 28-0 in their opening game at the Cosafa Championship in Mauritius on Saturday.

Recall that just two months ago, South Africa’s senior women’s team flogged Comoros 17-0 in the Cosafa Women’s senior Championship in Port Elizabeth.

11 different players scored in the match with Seychelles players scoring 6 goals apiece.

Oyisa Marhasi first pumped the ball into the Seychelles goal post 6 times in the first half, before coach Simphiwe Dludlu took her off.

Tiffany Kortjie, scored within 2 minutes of coming onto the pitch. She scored six goals within 30 minutes, an average of one goal every five minutes.

Seychelles have promised to train harder for future matches as this was their first at that tournament.
