Jagaban Bola Tinubu.has charged the Federal Government to do more to make power readily available to Nigerians.
He also asked that the practice of charging Nigerians exorbitantly for electricity not consumed be stopped.
He said, “We must push to end the practice of billing people for electricity they never received. This practice is a vestige of the past that should not accompany us into the future. A person should be charged accurately and only for the power that they use”
Tinubu, whose godson Babatunde Fashola is the current minister of power was speaking at the 11th Tinubu Birthday Colloquium.
When it comes to making power readily available to Nigerians, coal is the answer, because of its ready availability.
The Enugu Coal Mines which can boost Nigeria’s power, have been closed down for 46 years now.
Since the end of the civil war, it has not played any significant role in solving Nigeria’s unnecessary power problems. And yet, with its abundant but unused resources, it can make the darkness disappear.
