Trump: The US Political Elite Shouldn’t Make The Julius Ceaser Mistake

Bravo to Donald Trump as he gets officially elected as US President today. Later today, the US Electoral College which actually elects the US president after a general election will put the final stamp on Donald Trump’s earlier victory in the November 9 elections.

A horrifying number of people have been asking the college to deny Trump the fruits of his victory. Imagine. Don’t these people know that doing so will make Trump’s supporters very unhappy and open a Pandora’s box?

They should be careful what they wish for; because Trump’s election was real, as the Pensylvania recount shows. Instead of trying to delegitimise their incoming President, the US political establishment should look for ways to make sure that no occupant of the presidency goes unchecked. Not to keep trying to subvert the will of the people.

During the presidential campaign, the millions that voted in Trump were quiet – too quiet. That is why his victory seemed such an upset. Those millions would use their votes in the 2018 mid term elections to register disatisfaction with the US political elite should they subvert their will. And by then, the elite would no longer have Candidate Trump to fight, because by then, he would have become political matyr Trump.

Like Julius Ceaser, Trump came, saw and conquered, and the Roman establishment tried to bring him down. The US establishment should not go that far with Trump. As their Roman counterpaerts found out; the successful attack on  Ceaser became a successful attack on themselves- a collective self-shot on the foot .
