Tompolo: Soldiers Take Over Gbaramatu Kingdom, Prevent Monarch From Leaving Palace

Tension filled the creeks of the oil-producing Niger Delta region yesterday, when a company of soldiers took over the guesthouse of ex-Niger Delta warlord, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, in Gbaramatu Kingdom,  and restricted the movement of the paramount ruler to his palace.

Due to the invasion, the community was completely silent, even as it was learnt that health facilities, schools and the jetty from which many businesses in the area are transacted, were deserted as people fled the town to prevent being caught in the middle of any crossfire.

The traditional ruler alleged that he has been prevented from leaving the palace, and has witnessed assaults on his children by the soldiers
