Long before now, the political class, whom we have entrusted with ruling this country failed us when they refused to save for the rainy day. They also failed us when they refused to diversify our economy, knowing fully well that crude oil is a finite resource.
Did they not know that having an economy entirely dependent on crude oil was a huge risk, more especially, when one is talking about a population of over a hundred million? If successive administrations had really taken savings and economic diversification seriously, we would not be facing the severe crises we have today.
Yes, Buhari may have erred in waiting for too long before appointing his ministers, but should the full blame for what we are facing now be dumped hook line and sinker on his desk?
