How Alchohol Saved A Man From Freezing To Death In The Ocean

I was reading about the chief baker on the Titanic. When the ship was sinking, he gave up chances to enter a boat to safety and kept saving others.

Even when the ship’s crew we’re saving themselves, he was busy saving people, making sure they found life boats to enter.

Then he went into the sinking ship’s bar and filled himself up with whiskey. That was ironically what saved him.

For he later jumped into the icy ocean water. But all the whiskey he had drank kept swivelling in his stomach and kept him warm enough to survive in the ice-cold water for hours.

The next morning, he managed to see a lifeboat with space for him. He lived on till he was 78. So, today, I have learned at least one situation where whiskey has saved.
