Dave Umahi Celebrates New Yam Festival (Photos)

The Governor of Ebonyi State Mazi Dave Umahi on Monday performed the traditional Iri-Ji or New Yam Festival celebration of Uburu Community in Ohaozara, L.G.A., Ebonyi State.

It was a colourful ceremony, Mazi Dave paid his dues to secular Igbo tradition. Many don’t know that they cam perform their own New Yam Festival.

Afterall, New Yam Festival is the Igbo equivalent of Thanksgiving, which is a US tradition. It is period of giving thank to God for a bountiful harvest.
