Chimamanda Adichie, another Igbo woman of timbre and caliber, has just received her latest honour, a doctorate degree from Duke University in the United States. See photos of her at the event here.
Chimamada Adichie is very influential worldwide, primarily as the author of several award winning books, such as Half Of A Yellow Sun, Purple Hibiscus, and Americana. Her books are very enjoyable. They create mind videos as you read them.
She is widely seen as a literary successor to the great author of Things Fall Appart, Chinua Achebe.
She is also known for her promotion of feminism. She famously got former US First Lady and Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton to alter her Twitter profile to reflect feminist ideals on US television.
Former US President Barak Obama has praised her as one of the world’s greatest authors.
Her promotion of Feminism has drawn critics to her, but if that bothers her, she has not shown it.
Chimamanda Adichie has also been immortalized by Nigerian musician Flavour Nabania in the popular Nigerian song, Chimamanda.
Let us stop here for now.
