Former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala is dead at 71. Bamidele Johnson of Premium Times takes a trip down memory lane, giving the reader glimpses of the late Governor Alao-Akala’s political style.
It is a trip back to the days of Lamidi Adedibu, who was known as ‘strongman of Ibadan politics’.
Alao-Akala once bestrode the Agodi Government House, Ibadan like a colossus. Today, he is no more. Now part of eternity. May his soul rest in peace.
A philosopher once said (I paraphrase), in this life, nothing really matters in the long run. I think after life, what we have are stories, legacies and our walk with eternity.
Let us therefore strive to live live in such a way that when we are gone, the use of our lives will outlive our live.
In my own opinion, you don’t have to be a governor or minister to achieve this. But what you have to do, try to do it well. You may be training the next Moses, or Abraham Lincoln as a school teacher.
@cake you have delivered it nicely thanks. It is always good to be good
May his soul rest in peace
