Ex-Chief of Defence Staff Alex Badeh Shot Dead

Former Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria, Air Chief Marshal, Alex Badeh (retd.), was shot dead on Tuesday. 

Media reports say his car was fired on by gunmen on the Abuja-Lafia Road as he was returning from his farm. 

Photos in the link below show him slumped in the driver’s seat of his car.
An analysis of the windscreen shows two bullet holes penetrated the car from the front. 

Badeh was one of the service chiefs appointed by immediate past president Goodluck Jonathan. He was being investigated for financial in propriety but had not been found guilty.

A statement by the Airforce Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, reads:




It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce  unfortunate demise of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who died today, 18 Dec 18, from gunshot wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked while returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi Road.


On behalf officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar, commiserates with the family of the late former Chief of Defence Staff over this irreparable loss. We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest.” 



Reacting to his death, Senate President Bukola Saraki took to social media to write:


Nigeria has suffered another great loss with the passing of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh. My heartfelt prayers go to his family and our Armed Forces at this tragic time. May the Almighty grant him eternal rest. Amin.
