Rodrigo Duterte, a strongman mayor who wasn’t expected to win the Philippine presidency has actually won it, in spite of his provocative style during the campaign.
Duterte is known for being raw in his language, a trait which would have destroyed the career of most politicians.
He has that reason, been compared to Donald Trump, who has used his combative style to bludgeon opponents like Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and others into submission.

Duterte on his part insulted the Pope when he visited The Philipines some time ago, calling him an unprintable name because of the traffic caused by the pontiff’s visit – but he has said he would visit the Vatican to personally apologise to the Pope.
3. They’ve Both Said Their Combative Behaviour Are Just An Act To Lure Voters: Both are quick to go on verbal attacks but have pointed out that its all and act, and not necessarily who they are. They have both promised to be more presidential in office. Mr Duterte (The Punisher) has won his election, but even though Mr Trump (The Donald) has not yet won, his poll numbers against Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton are going up by the day.

They’ve Have Both Promised To Make Deals With Their Country’s Rivals Not Fight Them: Both politicians also dealmakers of sorts: While Donald Trump has spoken of making deals with America’s rival Russia that’ll see them cooperate like never before, Duterte has said he may make a deal with the Chinese who are contesting some islands with his country rather than go to war.
5. Same Age Bracket: While Duterte is 71 years, Trump will be 70 in June. Both anti-establishment politicians have shaken up the politics in their countries with a raw brand of populism that confounds politicians because no matter how low they go in their language, voters don’t seem to mind.
