If Cruz’s ability to stop Trump from reaching the 1,237 delegates it takes to clinch the Republican nomination hinges on Indiana, the latest polling is especially bad news for the Texas senator’s campaign.
Trump may knock Ted Cruz out of the Republican race today, from what opinion polls show. The numbers are not good for Cruz, and looking for a reason to stay on even if he loses Indiana today, he has been trying to squeeze out time to campaign in other states, while not looking as if he has ignored Indiana voters.
But even anti-Trump Republicans fear, that with Trump’s projected win in Indiana today, they may have lost the battle to him. If that happens it may be too late for the Republican elite to negotiate with Trump, as they would have lost a lot of leverage.
