Iwa ji festivalor new yam festival is held in almost every Igbo community. It is the Igbo equivalent of Thanksgiving.

@enemona56 It is never too late to learn the customs. The Igbos have a proverb that says whenever one wakes that is his morning.

This can be your morning and you can become a great ambassador of your people’s culture.

You can ask the elders for some help in the history and traditions and culture of your people.

And post it here for us to learn too.

@enemona You said people can use festivals amd customs to defend themselves at times. So, what are ways people can Legally use customs and festivals to defend themselves. I read in a book that ‘Culture is the best defence of an oppressed people’, and I believe it.

Most members of Hausa group are Muslims. They celebrate two major religious festivals called Eid Al Kabir and Eid Al Fitri as well as Durbar festival that is the culmination of the main two Muslim celebrations.
