The 33rd Africa Cup of Nations is underway, with hosts Cameroon beating Burkina Faso in the opening match of Group A.
The first international tournament of the year, it will be fascinating to see how this festival of African of football plays out.
Indeed, having been delayed due to the Covid pandemic, many may have not expected to go ahead in the first place, but the fact it’s soon here is a testament to the great deal of importance it holds in the footballing calendar.
Holders Algeria are favourites to retain their crown in Cameroon, although Egypt and Senegal could offer intense competition on that front.
