3 Steps To Start Mini Electricity Distribution Business In Nigeria Through BuyPower.ng

Buypower.ng is a new indepepower distribution company that sells electricity to Nigerians for a minimum purchase of NGN600. That means Nigerians can now buy their own power to give them light even when those buying from the Discos don’t have light.

The other good news is that you can also become a Buypower merchant, selling this electricity to companies and homes for a profit.

Recall that we broke the news to you last year that the Nigerian government was asking Nigerians to set up small power distribution companies that they can use to buy about 2 megawatts of power to distribute to Nigerians.

Well, Buy power.ng is one of those minor distribution companies that have come about. So, how do you become a merchant who makes money from selling electricity from Buypower to Nigerian consumers?

1. The first step is to register. For that, go to https://buypower.ng/merchant and fill the merchant application form:

If you are selected you will have to do the following (these are current practices in September 2019 that might be changed).

The remaining balance after the NGN5,000 has been deducted will be credited to your wallet.

After this is done, you can now log in to https://merchant.buypower.ng to start your electricity sales business.

3. How You Make Money Service Charge And Commissions

For each transaction you carry out for a customer, you are to charge a service charge of N100. From this service charge you’ll get N70 out while Buypower will get N30. In addition, you’ll get a 1% commission on every transaction you carryout.
