What Does Xenophobia Even Mean?

In the news of recent, we have been hearing the word xenophobia being used to describe the attack of Nigerians by some South Africans and the attack of some foreigners in a jeep by some Nigerians. This big grammar sef. What does it even mean?

Xenophobia (xe·no·pho·bia) is a word that means “fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign”. This is according to the famous Merriam-Webster dictionary.

The related word ‘Xenophobic ‘ describes the state of xenophobia. For example one can say, “I do not agree with that xenophobic statement.”

Xenophobia can lead to attack of innocent people when not contained.
