Egypt’s Ousted Elected President Mohammed Morsi Dies In Court During Trial

Mohammed Morsi was Egypt’s first democratically elected president. Before him Egypt had only had unelected leaders; from the Pharaohs to Cleopatra to Anwar Sadat to Hosni Mubarak.

As president, Morsi initially garnered a lot of power to himself. But eventually, he was pushed out by mass demonstrations. The demonstrators felt he and the Moslem Brotherhood which he belonged to had become too powerful.
