David Spencer: Can Taiwan emulate Singapore’s success on the international stage? 


What will a rising, agressive China allow? That’s an important question.

There are differences. In Singapore’s case, it was sent packing from the Malayan Republic. In Taiwan’s, case, it is still claimed China.

An China is a rising military, economic and nuclear power. Taiwan does not have the same militaristic history that an island like Japan has.

Bottomline: Taiwan should be careful…
