He told Saturday Vanguard on phone yesterday: “We know them, the security agents know them too, they are not ghosts, and we will support President Muhammadu Buhari to bring them out no matter where they hide.
”Emami, who was a former chairman of the Delta Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, Warri and a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, APC, faulted the Delta state government over its alleged laid-back response to vandalization of pipelines by the Niger Delta Avengers.
The Niger Delta Avengers have succeeded in almost crippling Nigeria’s oil production at a time when oil, our major export counts for almost nothing.
The group has vowed not to stop, and many oil companies have stopped operations and evacuated their staff. The Avengers have boasted that the Nigerian military cannot stop them because it cannot patrol every single place where an oil pipeline is located in the Niger Delta. But there have been unfounded rumors that the group is being funded by former president Goodluck Jonathan and /or foremost Ijaw militant leader, Tompolo.
But there have been unfounded rumors that the group is being funded by former President Goodluck Jonathan and /or foremost Ijaw militant leader, Tompolo. The camps of both leaders refute the claims.
Although Mr. Emami, an Itshekiri political leader did not categorically name anyone, it is clear that he wants the Federal Government to fish out those behind the faceless Avengers group and that he feels that both the Federal and the Delta State Government have been dragging their foot unnecessarily over the issue.
